Zayn, "Mind Of Mine", RCA

Polnud varem mitte midagi sellest artistist kuulnud, kuid selgus, et tegelikult on ta juba väga kõva tegija.
"Kas see pole mitte seesama kena poiss, kes kuulus One Direction´i ridadesse!," valgustas enamike rahvusvaheliste poistebändidega hästi kursis olev tuttav noor naine.

Inglise laulja-laulukirjutaja, vanust tal 23 aastat, täispika nimega Zain Javadd "Zayn" Malik, ilmutas oma talenti esmakordselt brittide TV ülipopulaarses "The X Factory´s" sooloartistina aastal 2010.
Tal liitus seejärel peatselt ülisoositud inglise-iiri poistebändiga One Direction, mille liikmeks ta oli viis aastat. Aasta tagasi alustas Zayn siiski soolokarjääriga ja vähemalt start osutus müstiliselt edukaks.
Singel "Pillowtalk", mis väljastati enne tema debüütalbumit, sööstis keeristormina nii Inglismaa kui USA edetabelites (tegelikult mitmetes teisteski riikides) esikohale, hiljem kordas sedasama saavutust ka täispikk album. Näitaja, milleni väidetavalt ükski briti artist varem oma debüüdikaga küündinud polnud...
Lausa jahmatavapanev sinna juurde on "Pillowtalk´ist" tehtud videoklipi (mega)vaadatavus - ainuüksi YouTubes üle 383 miljoni korra!
Teise singlina esindab albumit "Like I Would", mis täpsemalt öeldes leidub ainult "Mind Of Mine" luksväljaandel, kus standardväljaandega võrreldes koguni neli lugu rohkem ja muusikat ühtekokku pea tunni jagu.
Stiililiselt kujutab märtsis ilmunud "Mind Of Mine" endast laias laastus n.ö. alternatiiv R&B ja R&B kohtingut popiga, kuid sinna sisse on koonerdamata hakitud teisigi maitseaineid: folki, souli, elektroonikat, hip hoppi, isegi reggaet ja klassikat.
Kõik oleks seega tore ja kena, kuid lood ise on üldjoontes ikkagi igavavõitu. Konkreetselt Zayni vokaalsooritusi muidugi kiitmast ei väsita ja eks põhjust selleks ilmselgelt on.
Albumi tipphetkedeks kujunevad põnevama "biidiga" vastupõrkuv "Wrong", seda esitab Zayn koos Kehlaniga ning vahest ka "Bright", sealgi meeldejääv rütm regulaarselt toksimas. Muide "Bright" on samuti ainult deluxe väljaandel.
Zayni esikalbumi puhul võiks veel juurde märkida sedagi, et peenelt öeldes "halb kõnepruuk" (explicit content) jääb laulusõnu uurides pigem märkamatuks, ometi on vastavasisuline (eel)hoiatus ümbrispaberile selgelt peale lajatatud.
